My career in plain language started in 2006 at Jyoti Sanyal's Clear English India (CEI). The organization was funded by Martin Cutts' Plain Language Commission. At CEI we worked with one of the top Indian private sector banks to re-design and re-draft their forms to make them customer-friendly. After Sanyal's death two years later, CEI folded up and I resumed my writing and editing career as there were no opportunities in plain language in India back then.
But plain language was always on my mind and I came back to it in 2018. I became a member of Plain Language Association International and eventually its India ambassador. I worked with a Swiss client on Easy to Read standards for an online entertainment magazine meant for people with reading and learning difficulties.
